About Our Company

Windera Power Systems, Inc. ("Windera") was founded in mid-2006 by its Chief Executive Officer and the inventor of the Windera technology, Richard Burt and by Donna Cunninghame, Windera's Executive Vice President. Windera was formed to commercialize the revolutionary generator design and control system developed by Mr. Burt for renewable energy applications including utility-scale wind and hydroelectric power systems.

The highly innovative Windera technology represents an evolutionary step in generator design and performance and enables operators of aging wind farms and hydroelectric facilities to cost-effectively convert their existing fixed-speed, gear-driven generators to highly efficient, direct-drive, variable speed generators that deliver ultra-stable voltage and frequency to the grid without the need for expensive power electronics and maintenance-prone gearboxes. Windera's advanced generator and power control solution can also be used in the development of new MW-class wind turbine and hydroelectric generators including High Temperature Superconductor (HTS) and permanent magnet (PM) designs.

Windera is based in Wolfeboro, NH and maintains offices in Jacksonville, FL. The Company is working to commercialize a low-cost, direct-drive, variable speed conversion system for the existing and rapidly aging class of sub-MW wind turbines and hydroelectric generators that were installed through North America in the early 1980's and 1990's.
